About Equinox Documentaries, Inc.

Equinox Documentaries, Inc. is a non-profit film group co-founded by author Bill Belleville & PBS producer Bob Giguere in 2001.

Equinox produces a range of engaging, multi-media products, including educational presentations, award-winning documentaries, broadcast films, websites and virtual tours. Our abiding goal is to develop compelling content that uses the power of “story” to link natural science, history and cultural heritage.

In a time when we are rapidly losing our natural inheritance, Equinox helps remind audiences of all ages of the scientific and cultural value of “wild places,” the vital interdependence of our ecosystems, and the fragile environmental balance that we are bound to preserve. We maintain that the best way to protect a wild place is to forge a connection with it, and to develop an ethic of caring from that connection. In doing so, we help audiences understand and learn from the natural landscape, and appreciate the significance and urgency of maintaining our relationships with it.

To sustain the values of this mission, each Equinox project tells the story of “place” through the connection that comprise it: in the interactions between land and water, between large ecosystems and patterns of human development, and in the legacy of man’s impact upon our natural environments.

Equinox’s volunteer structure and contractual relationships with writers, cinematographers and editors ensure that passion, professionalism and purpose are attained without any full-time staff. The Equinox team is individually impassioned by their commitment to our mission and organizationally motivated by the compelling products that result. As a result, our films have won a number of awards---including those judged by other filmmakers---and have also enjoyed a post-broadcast "life" as DVD's for both education and entertainment.

Legally, Equinox Documentaries, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation chartered with the Florida Department of State in Tallahassee on January 31, 2001. The corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. The general nature of the corporation is to educate the general public on the value of conservation and natural resources.
